Learning Objectives

  • You will finish the course feeling confident in your ability to properly use manual muscle testing as an assessment too to help diagnose and evaluate you patient’s health concerns.
  • You will accurately learn and practice manual muscle testing skills and techniques and see how they are used to guide your way through the SHC evaluation and treatment process.

Session 1

Basic manual muscle testing procedures, protocols, and the rationale and science behind muscle testing will be taught. This weekend we will focus on the muscles of the UPPER EXTREMITIES including, but not limited to:

  • Muscles of the head and neck and their correlation to the TMJ and cranial fault issues
  • Cranial bones and their correlation to musculoskeletal issues and other health disorders
  • Muscles of the shoulder girdle – assess and treat frozen shoulder, rotator cuff issues, brachial plexus problems, and more
  • Muscles affecting elbow and hand/wrist function which can lead to such disorders as tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many other upper limb complaints
  • Diaphragmatic problems, treatments, and rehabilitation procedures

Session 2

Some more advanced muscle testing procedures will be taught as well as clinical insights into muscle testing procedures and evaluations will be taught. This weekend we will focus on the muscle of the LOWER EXTREMITIES including, but not limited to:

  • Muscles of the hip and pelvic leading to common complaints such as: sciatica, hip bursitis & tendonitis, and SI joint dysfunction
  • Lower back evaluation including the importance of the abdominals
  • Knee assessment and treatment of problems such as ITB frictional syndrome, knee injuries, and common problems such as Osgood Schlatter’s Syndrome
  • Foot and ankle evaluation and treatment of shin splints, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and many others
  • The importance of minimal footwear and going barefoot and how to evaluate and rehab gait mechanics

Each class is limited in size and is very hands-on due to the amount of demonstrations and muscle testing practices. General notes will be provided, but the majority of the workshop will be hands-on learning.
